Bella Vida Bookworms

Bella Vida is partnering with the SCV Library to bring you a dynamic and friendly reading group. Each month the Bookworms will read a book provided by the SCV Library via eBook or paper edition. The Bookworms will then meet to discuss the drama, intrigue, suspense, adventure and romance that unfolded in the chapters.
For December, the Bookworms will read
Olga Dies Dreaming by Xochitl Gonzalez
Olga Dies Dreaming by Xochitl Gonzalez is a contemporary novel that follows Olga, a successful wedding planner living in Brooklyn, New York. Olga comes from a Puerto Rican family with a complicated history, especially involving her mother, who abandoned her and her brother at a young age. The story delves into Olga’s struggles with her identity, her strained relationships, and the pressure of her work, all while grappling with the political and social upheaval that affects her community. Themes of family, love, gentrification, and Puerto Rican culture are explored, as Olga confronts her past and seeks a path toward healing and self-understanding.
The SCV Library has paper copies, eBooks, as well audio-books available.
